Budgee Wind Farm

Project Type
Wind Farm

Capacity
100-150MW

Storage
TBC

The Budgee Wind Farm is located in proximity to Toowoomba and intends to connect into existing transmission lines. The site is highly suitable for wind generation due to its topography, its distance from dwellings, and distance from other key environmental constraints.
The development site is located in the Toowoomba Regional Council local government area and has an indicative footprint which covers over 2,000 hectares. Favourable access to the site is available via the New England Highway.

The project will require several approvals, including; an approval under Queensland’s State Code 23: Wind Farm Development within the State Development Assessment Provisions, an approval from the Department for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DSDILGP) (facilitated through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA)), and a determination under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity (EPBC) Act.

The assessment and approval process will be substantial and will see various government agencies and regulatory bodies asked to provide input on the application and the approval decision.
