Monduran Solar Farm
Project Type
Solar Farm
Capacity
200-300MW

TBC
The Monduran Solar Farm is located in proximity to Bundaberg and intends to connect into the existing electricity grid. The site is highly suitable for solar generation due to its distance from dwellings, proximity to the electricity grid, and avoidance of key environmental constraints.
The development site is located in the Bundaberg Regional Council local government area and has an indicative footprint which covers over 600 hectares.
Solar farm developments in the Bundaberg region must follow a clear planning and assessment process to ensure they are responsibly designed and deliver benefits to the local community. Under Queensland’s updated renewable-energy planning framework, large-scale solar projects must complete a Social Impact Assessment and negotiate a Community Benefit Agreement before a development application can be lodged. The application is then assessed by the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA) under the new State Code for solar farms, with input from Bundaberg Regional Council. All projects require public notification, giving community members an opportunity to have their say. Additionally, a referral to the Federal Government may be required if it is deemed that Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES) may be impacted under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
