The 700 megawatt Cobbora Solar Farm will generate enough clean renewable energy to power 280,000 homes. It also includes a 400MW/1600MWh battery energy storage system that can supply energy on demand, such as peak periods or when the sun isn’t shining.

The project is situated in the NSW Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. IN May 2025, Access Rights were granted for the project to connect into EnergyCo’s new REZ network infrastructure.

Construction is forecast to commence in 2027, with electricity being fed into the network by 2030.

The project’s development rights were acquired in 2024 by Pacific Partnerships and Dawn will continue providing development services for the project until construction commences, through Marble Energy.

Further project details can be found through the project’s website here.

Project Facts

The solar farm will be developed across a 3000 hectare site of mostly cleared grazing land about six kilometres from the small township of Cobbora and 20 kilometres south-west of Dunedoo.

It is located on the site of the Cobbora Coal Mine project, which was proposed for the area in 2014 but did not proceed.

The site’s low undulating landscape makes it ideal for a solar farm development. It is free from flooding and ecological constraints and does not include any Biophysical Strategic Agricultural Land (BSAL).

It is located across Warrumbungle Shire Council and Dubbo Regional Council local government areas.
