Dawn Renewables Partners with European Energy to Deliver 100MW Winton North Solar Farm and Battery Project

Global renewable developer acquires development rights for 300-ha Victorian site as project prepares for construction

Australian clean energy developer Dawn Renewables has announced a major milestone for its Winton North Solar Farm and battery project, confirming global renewable energy leader European Energy has acquired the development rights to take the large-scale project into construction.  

Dawn Renewables has led the development across the 300-hectare site, located approximately 22 kilometres southwest of Wangaratta, near the Victorian and New South Wales border. Early-stage environmental, land, and grid planning were managed by Dawn Renewables, successfully driving the site to construction readiness.  

Dawn Renewables will remain closely involved, partnering with European Energy over the 12 months as the project transitions to construction phase over the next 12 months.   

The clean energy hub will connect directly into the existing electricity network to deliver 100 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity – generating enough zero-emission energy to power the equivalent of 40,000 homes. The project also features an integrated 200 MWh battery energy storage system, capturing excess renewable energy generated during peak hours and discharging clean electricity back into the grid during high-demand periods or when needed.  

The Winton North project also places local community growth at the centre of its delivery strategy, generating up to 250 jobs during construction, alongside ongoing operational roles. Dawn Renewables’ local knowledge and community relationships built during early development will remain strong throughout the construction phase.
